Here in Hitachi (China), starting from power plants, we are expanding our business of a broad range covering from social infrastructure systems including all kinds of industrial plants, railway trains to a variety of components, information and telecommunication systems, display devices as well as home digital products.

In the meantime, standing in the forefront of Hitachi China Group which has over 100 companies and in order to lead the Hitachi brand, we have been developing our operation system of flexibility and mobility that can meet the needs of our customers from all over the areas as well as respond to the characteristics of the group's entire wide ranging businesses.

Personally, through years of business operation up to this day, I have learned and appreciated the importance of "Front-line Policy": the demands, enthusiasm and the expectations of our customers can only be discovered on the work site and so can the key to their solutions.

In today's Chinese society which is undergoing drastic changes and progresses, all of us in Hitachi feel a strong indication of being able to benefit various business opportunities from this great time. Early in 1978, Hitachi Semiconductor (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. was established in Hong Kong, China. Later on, it became Hitachi Asia (Hong Kong) Ltd with the developments in business and was renamed to Hitachi China Ltd. in 2003. It was mainly responsible for directing the market development and sales in China. In mainland China, Hitachi (China), Ltd. was founded in Beijing in 1994. The company name was once changed to Hitachi (China) Investment, Ltd in 2003, and was then renamed to Hitachi (China) Ltd in 2004. The company was established to implement Hitachi Groups investment and corporate business.

In the spring of 2005, together with the consolidation of the business functions of the above two companies, the status of Hitachi (China) Ltd. as regional headquarters was approved by the Ministry of Commerce of China to become an integrated group company in China. This move indicates that Hitachi has further intensified and upgraded its business in China. It also signifies that Hitachi (China) Ltd., like the Hitachi regional headquarters in US and Europe, will play a very active and effective role in Hitachi's global operation, especially in the Chinese market.

As a regional headquarters, Hitachi (China) Ltd. is leading over 100 Hitachi group companies in China to exploit the great potentials in the areas of power equipment, industrial equipment and components, control system, information and telecommunication systems, digital household appliances, display device, and international procurement. Also Hitachi (China) puts all efforts in providing reliable services. Besides, it invests to various Hitachi group companies in China according to their actual needs, strengthens the R&D and promotes the CSR. It will cooperate with Hitachi (China) Research & Development Corporation, a R&D centre of Hitachi Group, to expand to new business areas with the famous large enterprises, universities, and other research institutions in China. Hitachi (China) actively makes its contribution to China's social development.
