Hitachi R&D Overview in China |
In 2000, Hitachi set up its 3rd overseas research base within Hitachi (China) Ltd., Hitachi (China) R&D Center, which is committed to researches in information communication systems, open source software and digital TV, and has built up a cooperative relationship with Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2004, the Information Communication (Shanghai) Laboratory was set up in Shanghai for collaborative research with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University. Meanwhile, the Home Appliance Development Center in the Jinqiao Development Zone, Shanghai has been growing as a global institution for air-conditioner design and development.
In Apr 2005, Hitachi (China) Research &Development Corporation, wholly funded by Hitachi (China) Ltd., was founded, which is built on Hitachis R&D experience and achievements in China and has opened up new directions in materials and biology on the basis of the businesses of the existing R&D Center. With the mission of creating rising businesses from China and effectively leveraging the R&D and human resources of China, the new company will promote R&D efforts and cooperation with China in a larger scale.
As one of the Hitachi global R&D bases in China, the R&D Center is the gathering place of a number of experienced R&D personnel, who will hold the R&D philosophy of Hitachi and contribute to the economic, social development and technical advancement of China through their efforts.
