Open source software: OSS is a new wind for IT area. Our Open Source Software Laboratory are developing new application system using OSS and research practical software development methods and system maintenance technologies for the OSS era.
A lot of volunteers join OSS activity and are developing new software products via Internet. The developed OSS product can be used and modified freely. For development based on OSS products, the integration among the products developed by different organizations has become main and exacting tasks. Maintenance of them is exhausting job for many users. As development using OSS is popular, short-term and low cost development will be required for application program development.
We research new software development methods such as test driven development: TDD and develop new application programs development tools based on Model Driven Architecture: MDA concept and debugging tools for OSS middleware to solve above problems. To propose new solution for Chinese users, we are developing new application system based on Linux platform such as home network system and doing Chinese oriented Web usability research.

Web Usability Research |
A series of guidelines for China-oriented and China-suitable web GUI design are proposed, which is based on the result of usability research to clarify the characteristics of Chinese web environment and preferences of Chinese web users. Using these guidelines, web pages and web-based GUI for Chinese users can be easier to use, more satisfied and maybe more fun.
